Propose conduction of an SSS workshop in a school in India.

Proposal for conducting of SSS Workshop(S) in a school in India with/without financial support of IAP (Online form)

TYPES OF SSS MODULES
  1. Module for junior students (Class 4 and below)
  2. Module for senior students (Class 5 and above)

Module-1 consists of pictorial power point presentations and/or videos on 5 topics (Balanced Diet, Physical Activity, Screen Time, Sleep, and Air Pollution), to be run in an interactive manner in 45-60 minutes, as detailed in the operational guidelines for Trainers.

Module-2 consists of:

Session-1 (Duration: 1 ½ hours): Powerpoint presentations and/or videos on 7 topics (Balanced Diet, JUNCS and Reading Food Labels, Physical Activity, Screen Time, Sleep, Mental Health, and Air Pollution), and skill training on Physical activity at home, and How to say NO to addictions,

AND

Session 2 (Duration 30 min): 2 Skill Stations (JUNCS and Reading Food labels, and Media Use Planning) to be run in smaller groups  for hands-on, practical training, as detailed in the respective Operational Guidelines for Trainers.

For differently abled children, irrespective of their age, the module for junior students will be used. Thereafter, for such students of class 5 and above, based on their abilities and feedbacks from coordinators, teachers and school admin, on case to case basis, running the module for senior students will also be considered, with due consideration of their abilities and physical safety.

TYPES OF WORKSHOPS

Under SSS, the following types of workshops can be conducted:

  1. Training of Trainers (ToT) [For IAP members, or training partners]
  2. Workshop in special schools for differently abled children.
  3. Workshop for junior students only
  4. Workshop for senior students only
  5. Full workshop in school [To run the respective modules for at least 1 class of junior students, plus one class of senior students]
WHO CAN REGISTER A WORKSHOP?
  • Normally, ToTs (A) are decided by the program management team of SSS, depending upon felt need of trainers in specific geographies, MoUs with school managements, availability of funds and other factors.
  • Any member of IAP, irrespective of having attended a ToT or not, can submit proposals to conduct (alone or by teaming up with other IAP members) workshops in special schools (B), or for junior classes only (C).
  • Only ToT trained trainers of SSS, can propose workshops for Senior students only (D), or Full workshop (E) (at least 1 batch of junior students, and 1 batch of senior students), provided at least 2 (ideally 4) such trainers located in the same district are available for such a training.
HOW TO PROPOSE A WORKSHOP?

Any eligible person (criteria mentioned above) can submit a proposal through a duly filled proposal form accessible from the following link

In order to get the sanction for any workshop, it is advisable for the coordinator of IAP/it’s training partner, to decide and collect the following information from the concerned school(s), to submit with the proposal-

  1. Full name of the school (exactly as desired to appear in the certificates).
  2. Full name of the School Coordinator.
  3. Email id of the school coordinator (The link, login and password for the school will be emailed on this id).
  4. Mobile number of the School Coordinator (Login details for the school may be sent by SMS on this number).
  5. Name of the city/village in which the school is located (This may be printed on the certificates).
  6. Range of classes in the school (From-, To-).
  7. Approx. number of students in the school.
  8. Phone number of the school (with STD code).
  9. Type of the school: Govt./Govt. Aided/ Private/Other (includes special schools, alternative schooling systems, out of school children).
  10. Location of the school: rural, urban or tribal area.
  11. Is the school for girls only, boys only, or coeducational?
  12. Medium (language/s) of instruction of school, for the classes proposed to be trained.
  13. Is it a mainstream, or a special school (for differently abled children)?
  14. If a special school for differently abled, what type of disabilities?
  15. Availability of audio-visual facilities in the school for running presentations and videos.
  16. Proposed type of workshop: Full (Modules for junior as well as senior students), OR for juniors only, OR for seniors only?
  17. Proposed date of beginning of the workshop(s).
  18. If workshops on more than one day are proposed, the date of the last workshop.
  19. Number of workshops proposed through the instant proposal.
  20. If more than 1 workshop is proposed, the total number of students proposed to be trained (max. 60/ workshop batch).
  21. Does the proposed group of trainee students include any student(s) with any physical or mental disability?
  22. Total number of teachers proposed to be trained in the workshop(s) (minimum 2, ideally 6 or more).
  23. Whether the school authority has expressed interest in having SSS workshops conducted in the school?
  24. Full name(s) of proposed trainer(s) (At least 2 trainers for the module for senior students. Except in case of intramural trainings to be conducted later by teachers to be trained in SSS, the trainer/s need to be chosen from the existing trainers pool of IAP including training partners of IAP).
  25. Whether the proposer is willing to conduct the workshop without any financial support from SSS. (Local sponsorship allowed with prior approval of SSS office. Even if sanctioned to run without financial support of SSS, training toolkit, back office support, digital certificates for all participants, and digital letter of appreciation for school will be provided by SSS office, all applicable guidelines for SSS workshops will need to be followed by the proposer, and untrained IAP members who conduct larger number of SSS workshops with junior modules in schools may get on priority basis, invitation for the next SSS ToT in their respective states, whenever the same are held).

Proposals without funding needs can be decided faster, and carry a higher chance of getting sanctioned.

For ease of processing and preparations needed at the level of coordinators and schools, it is advisable to submit the proposal about 3 weeks before the proposed date of the workshop. On receipt of the proposal, the program office will process it, and if found in order, sanction the same communication of which will be sent by email to the coordinator, along with the necessary documents. Routinely, this process will be done within 7 days of receipt of the proposal. However, under special circumstances, sanction may be granted earlier and at shorter notice, if the program office or program management team is contacted by the coordinator immediately after submission of the proposal.

After the proposed workshop(s) are sanctioned, in case one or more of them get postponed or cancelled for reasons beyond your control, please promptly drop an email indicating the same, by replying to the same email of SSS to you through which the workshop(s) is/are sanctioned, and please also give advance intimation of the new date by replying to the same email. In case of postponement for a few days only, this proposal will remain valid, and no new proposal will need to be submitted. However, in case any element other than the date of the workshop(s) (eg. name of school, class, trainers, number of trainees etc.) needs to be changed, a new proposal will need to be submitted, and withdrawal of this proposal will need to be communicated to the program office (IAP central office).

WHICH GROUPS ARE PRIORITY BENEFICIARIES?

While the SSS trainings are intended for all school going students, the beneficiaries who are top priority are-

  • children who are differently abled,
  • underprivileged children,
  • children from tribal areas,
  • children from rural areas,
  • girl students, and
  • children studying in class 4 and below.

So proposals to conduct workshops for these groups will get top priority for sanction, provided the guidelines are met.
